Q: I'm the anon from before (the one diagnosed with RA less than a year ago). I had a question about enbrel... They are going to put me on it soon. I'm worried I'll gain weight on it. Can you tell me a little bit about your experiences with it?
I am so glad that you decided to get in touch with me, you have motivated me to keep up with my blog as this is exactly why I do it! I agree entirely - when I first looked online for blogs and personal accounts of having RA I was completely demoralised. RA hasn’t stopped me from doing much, it has just changed the way I do all that I want to do - which has been a good thing in many ways!
I started on Enbrel 18months ago, for me there were no side effects. If anything, I have lost weight since starting it as my RA symptoms have improved and I am more active than I ever have been since I was diagnosed. The injection is easy to administer and I do not find it painful at all. The only part about it that I don’t like is that it can be hard to travel with (keeping it refrigerated).
If you would like to keep in contact please feel free to write back, I’d love to know more! But otherwise I hope that this information has been useful and I wish you all the very best with your RA.
